Make and place a guard rail

A handrail guardrail, always protects us from any fall or accident that we may suffer going up or down the stairs. That is why in this task of Bricomanía we are going to make a rigid and consistent quitamiedos railing, to improve the safety in our stairs and attics.

Further, we will use arc welding technique to join the different pieces that will make up the metal structure of our railing.

The basic materials we will need to build our railing will be iron bars T-shaped that will make up the posts of the same: a wooden railings and ones stainless steel wires that we will place as crossbars in the central part of the structure.

In addition, both to fix the posts and to join the handrail, we will need some iron plates.

Step by step to make guard rail

Step 1
First, we mark all metal parts that we are going to need to build the structure of our railing.

Step 2
With a mini grinder equipped with a metal cutting wheel, we cut the different pieces. To protect the eyes and hands we will wear glasses and gloves.

Step 3
When we have cut all the pieces, we drill the holes in the posts and in the plates. To do this, we will use a tower and the electric screwdriver drill with drill for this type of materials. Then, we countersink the holes and review the cutting areas with the grinder.

Step 4
With the arc welding technique, we weld the plates that will form the bases of the posts.

Step 5
Then, we weld the plates which will serve to hold the handrail.

Step 6
When we have welded the different plates on the posts, we do the same with the fixing flanges.

Step 7
Now, it's the time to color. We protect our hands with latex gloves and we apply an anti-rust enamel black to all metal parts with the help of a pallet.

Step 8
We let the product dry and then, we begin to place the posts in their position correspondent. We set the first one on the concrete floor. We mark the points where we are going to make the holes and drill with the screwdriver.

Step 9
We clean the surface and with the help of the silicone applicator gun, fill the holes with chemical block. Then, we introduce the threaded rods.

Step 10
While the chemical block hardens, we make the holes in the beam metal ladder to place a second post.

Step 11
When the chemical block has dried, we set the post with nuts and washers.

Step 12
Next, we will proceed to place the post on the metal beam of the ladder using screws and nuts.

Step 13
Now, we are missing for place the three posts that will go on the loft. The floor is made of wood and to fix them, we will use some barge screws with the screwdriver.

Step 14
After placing all the posts, we present the wooden handrail in position and fix it with some screws that we will introduce with the screwdriver.

Step 15
To end, we will place the steel cables. We cut the cables as we need, pass them through the holes and strain them.

Step 16
In this simple way we will have built and placed our practice and safe handrail guardrail.
